The National Organization

Sons of The American Legion
The Sons of The American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion.
The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) is a program of The American Legion established to assist with programs and activities.
The S.A.L. is made up of boys and men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion.
Together, members of The American Legion, The Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary form the "Legion Family.
Together all three organizations place high importance on preserving our American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for our nation's children, caring for veterans and their families, and perhaps most importantly, teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.
The Sons of The American Legion works together with The American Legion to promote a wide variety of programs and assist in many activities, including Veterans programs (VAVS), VA home and hospital volunteering, Children & Youth programs, and fund raising activities.

How
We Began
Not
Much is known about our post history as many records may have been
lost or misplaced when the post home was sold in 1962.
An
application requesting a charter with The Sons of the American Legion to be
known as Mount Holly Squadron 11 was filed in 1932. The letter
was signed by the eligible applicants seeking membership and wishing
to create a Squadron Detachment to Mount Holly American Legion Post 11.
The
charter was issued in 1932 to the applying members.
